It does say 35mm Camera. It takes Film.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great camera. It works just fine. A 35mm camera does take real film. Just like kids toys, some need batteries some need film. These come in different colors. A very nice working Barbie Camera.
Might as well buy a “toy” camera – or invest in a kids’ digital

My 6-yr-old daughter got this for her birthday and she was very excited about having her own camera (our 4-yr-old has a Fisher Price Digital already). However, film is a brand new concept to her – she wanted to “see” the pictures immediately, like on her sister’s camera. This is definitely something to consider before buying this. It only comes with 12 exposures so be prepared to buy film.
The camera itself is cute, squishy, pink. Then you have to load the film. The counter on this camera appears to be broken?? So we did the click, rewind sequence exactly as described in the directions to load the film (not rocket science here). The counter never moved off the “s” to the “1″ as it was supposed to when it was ready for taking pictures. We have now exposed the film with pictures of our floor. I plan to return it.
Also consider: Kids taking pictures is a fabulous creative expression! But if you’ve ever turned a 3 or 4-yr-old loose with a camera, you’ll know that most will be deleted. This can be expensive with film. Either buy a fake, toy camera, or invest in a durable kids’ digital. You could always buy this as a $13 “toy” camera and never give the kids film. But for the 3 or 4+ crowd who want a functioning camera, spend the $60 on the Fisher Price.
