Some things other entries did not mention

When looking for a camera for my 3-yr-old, I could not find any entries that answered the questions that I had. We received this as a gift, so now I can answer my own questions. Your child can take pictures by looking through the eyepiece or on the screen (the screen is like an adults’ screen where you see the image as you are taking the pic); however, the image is very grainy unless you are very close to the object. The same goes for playing the pictures back — very grainy unless close-up. All of the pictures can be deleted very easily, so if your child is attached to any particular pics, download them as soon as possible. The camera did satisfy my son who just loves to take picture after picture, with no delay. He doesn’t really care much about image quality. However, he still prefers to use my camera over his. This camera is very light weight and easy for little hands to hold. It also eliminates the finger in the way problem. I tried buying him an older digital camera, but it was way too heavy, so he won’t use it. All in all, this is a fun toy, but I’m glad that I received it as a gift instead of shelling out my own money.
Crashed

Camera is constantly crashing when being used. we have to send ours back to the manufacturer in order to get it fixed and we only used it twice
My daughter had alot of fun with it when it is functional. Although it doesn’t have the games that was on the older version.
Fun & Tough

My daughter got this last year for Christmas when she was 4. It is very easy for her to use. No it does not take gallery quality photos. They are somewhat better than the camera on my phone and they look much better once you download them then they do on the screen.
One of the neighbor kids left the camera out in the middle of our backyard and we didn’t notice for 2 weeks. We had a light freeze and about 6 inches of rain during that time. I put in new batteries and it worked just fine. It has been dropped down the stairs as well.
She has a blast with it and it is incredibly durable.
Great Toy for Kids Who Love Taking Pictures!

Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls
I feel that this is a great purchase because my daughter loves it, & I don’t have to pay to develop pictures that lets face it aren’t always spectacular. Not to mention that this camera won’t break if she drops it a great plus when you are buying a more expensive item!
decent camera for little kids

I would agree with other reviews that I read about the quality of the pictures — especially those taken with the flash. We got this for our 4 year old daughter. She really doesn’t care much about the quality of the picture so she is absolutely find with it. She just likes to snap away and take a quick look at the picture she has taken. She has dropped the camera once and it still works fine. If your child actually cares about the pictures he/she takes, you are better off getting a regular cheap digital camera or buying a used one off of ebay — which is what I did for my 6 year.

My daughter takes many random photos about our home and surrounding area. I always like to see what she captures next. I highly recommend this “toy” to any parent(s) looking to broaden their child(ren)’s horizons while protecting their investment with this virtually unbreakable camera.

This is a create product!! I bought one for my 6 year old son and my 3 year old daughter kept “borrowing” it. I just bought her a pink one for her 3rd birthday and she takes a picture of everything!

This was the best present for a little girl. She hasn’t put it down. When we leave to go somewhere she asks “Wheres my camera.” I think this is one of the best toy purchases I have made. She really likes that she can see the picture she took right away. The visual clarity in the viewing window is not perfect but good enough for a little kid to see the picture she took. I’ll buy this for other children in the future.
A great product!

This camera is excellent. I saw some reviews that criticize the quality of the on-camera display, but my 5 year old loves this camera, and as a result, I love it too. It is very durable, sturdy and I dare say kid proof. The quality of the pics in high resolution is about as good as I expected when I consider that my daughter loves to see that her pictures are downloaded to our computer. She isn’t picky about the resolution of course. This camera is a great product, an excellent learning tool for taking pictures. Depending on how you look at it the only downside to the limited on-board memory is that in hi-res it only takes about 20 pictures. The upside to this is that you don’t have to download and organize that many pics. I purchased a 1MB memory card for $7.00 so now she can take pictures till her heart’s content. I am glad I bought the camera, but not quite as glad as my child. Have fun!
This thing is tough.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This camera is indestructible in the hands of my four year olds. The picture quality is pretty bad, but not to the kids. What would you really expect from a camera this cheap that still holds up to being dropped from height on to a tile floor? The pictures are good enough that you can get some idea of your child’s perspective.
Note: There is no feature on this camera that prevents your child from coming in the bathroom while you are showering and snapping off a couple shots. Please review the pictures the kids take and talk to them about them.
Great camera for first time photographers!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After seeing my neighbor’s, I had to get it. It is great for those first timers and it lets me have a break from them using (and smudging, loading up my memory card, etc) mine! Honestly, it does not take the greatest pictures, and sometimes in certain light, it really doesn’t take well. But they have not been disapointed and you have to remember, it’s a kid’s camera, not a top of the line one. You can stil make out what pictures are what. My youngest who is 3, can use this camera with no problems, knows how to delete, look at all of her pictures, and turn it off.
It is very sturdy, love the rubber sides so it doesn’t slip.
pictues come out blurry
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The pictures comes out blurry and it take 4 AAA batteries. You have to constantly buy batteries. I will probably in a year spend more on batteries than i did for the camera itself. But my 4 year old daughter likes it and feels independent with it, so it serves its purpose.
My 4 year old loves this camera
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This camera is amazing. My 4 year old daughter loves it. She had dropped it many times since she has it but it is tough enough to handle it. The only complaint I have is that the flash is too bright and close ups come out too bright. The pictures dont look that great on the screen but once you download them on your computer you are surprised by just how good they look.
Durable – yes, camera – no
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This camera is very durable, but the pictures are so bad who cares. My daughter desperately tries to make use of it, but gets depressed every time she sees what kind of pictures it actually produces. Most the time it’s hard to even tell what she took a picture of. I guess Fisher Price put so much effort into making it tough they forgot that it was actually supposed to function as a camera. It might as well just be a block of wood painted to look like a camera.
Pictures much better than they look on the camera…
The two eyed view finder works well for kids, who have a hard time closing one eye. The flash uses a lot of batteries, but fortunately is driven by separate batteries than the one that operates the camera, so it’s okay if they run out.

My daughter loves her Kid Tough camera. So does my son, who was jealous from the minute she got it for Christmas… despite the pink color.
The little LCD screen on the camera is indeed terrible. In terms of having a rough idea of what was taken, and for previewing the next picture, it does the job however. To my surprise, what I found when I transferred the pictures to our computer is that the photos are actually fairly decent. The upload process is super easy; just like transferring pictures off of any other digital camera.
I expect these kid cameras to improve dramatically over the next few years. A better LCD screen is obviously where Fisher Price can improve most, but at least the pictures are decent despite that.
Shutter lag is another area that needs improvement. The lag isn’t terrible, but there is some, and for a kids camera that’s a pretty serious issue. I had to instruct my then 3 year old daughter to hold the camera still for a second after taking the picture because she would push the button then immediately move the camera away from her face to see the preview. This was resulting in blurry pictures due to the shutter lag.
Overall, it is a nice toy. 9 months after Christmas, this is one of only a few toys that are still played with. I would have given my right arm for such a toy when I was a kid.
To summarize, if you are looking for a real digital camera for taking “keepers”, stay clear. If you want a fun toy for a young kid, this is great!

I was dissapointed about the camera. Although it really captures is not handle and the display is very small. Besides the kid can’t see the object in that display but in a very little window
Great for preschool age
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a great first camera for preschool age girls. My daughter loved taking pictures with this and found it very easy to use. There was some frustration over the quality of the photos, she found that she had to take pictures only in very good natural light to get a decent shot. She is seven now and ready for something more grown up looking that takes better quality photos, but I would recommend this as a fun toy for preschoolers, it is nice to know that if they drop it the thing won’t break. I think it is too expensive though for what you get and would recommend looking for a second hand one.
Great little camera

We bought this camera for our 5 year old daughter 4 months ago and she still enjoys using it. It has an SD slot, so you can insert a larger memory card so your child can take a ton of pictures and they won’t be forcing you to download pictures of their stuffed animals onto your computer any time soon;) This camera has been dropped over and over again, played with by our 2 year old, turned off and on over and over again, left in a hot car, etc. It still keeps going. I have to say that the quality of the pictures is a bit grainy, but there is a flash and the kids don’t care anyways. Nice size screen on the back. Our daughter and her friends have a lot of fun with this product and we’d recommend it to anyone. She won’t be disappointed.
It’s ok
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We got this camera for our 3 year old, because she loves to take pictures with our digital camera. However, the quality of the screen viewer is so bad that she doesn’t really enjoy snapping a shot and looking at it the way she does with our camera (and that is what she loves). So, it doesn’t quite do the trick. Also, when you look through the viewfinder what you see doesn’t match with the photos the camera takes, which is also annoying and hard to remember as an adult, let alone a 3 year old.
she does use it now and then, but not as much as I had hoped. We’ll likely give her an adult camera soon – probably when we upgrade.
I will say it is as tough as nails, though! And that’s good!
HORRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this camera for my daughter’s 4th birthday. I liked the pink color and the looks of it on the picture. When I started to use it I noticed that the picture quality was horrible. I could not identify the person in the picture. After reading the instruccions I noticed there was a setting to make the picture quality better. SO I put it on that setting. IT DID NOT HELP… still the people in the photos were irrecognizable. Would not recomend it.
A fun thing to have

My kids love the Fisher Price camera. My daughter received it for her birthday, after asking for it forever, but my son loves it too. It doesn’t take the best pictures in the world, but they still enjoy using it.
Fun and Useful
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I gave this camera to my granddaugher for her 3rd birthday. She loved it and went around “taking pictures” of everyone. Unfortunately, she got their belly buttons instead of their faces, but she had great fun. With some practice and training from her mother, I am sure she’ll get better. But it gave her great fun.
This is horrible!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is a horrible camera I can’t even see half the pictures there just either pure white or dark and grainy. Do not buy from valley tech toys they have a 40% restocking fee if it’s open. Well of course you have to open it to realize what a piece of crap this is.
What a waste
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This camera is a great idea. My daughter has fun with it but the picture quality is so terrible that I don’t understand the point. If she did happen to take a good photo it is useless. You can barely make out the image it is so dark. It really is a terrible camera. If you just want a pretend camera for your kids that clicks and makes noise I think you can find something else for a lot less money. The picture part of this camera is pointless. Don’t waste your money. Fisher price should be ashamed of producing such a piece of junk.
Don’t buy this camera!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This camera is truly a worthless piece of garbage. I agree with all the other reviewers who say that durability is meaningless when the photos this camera produces are as foggy as pea soup. Seriously, you can not make out a thing once you’ve snapped a pic. I bought this camera for my child over two years ago and am STUNNED that this product is still on the market. You might as well take a kleenex box, cut a hole in it and paint it pink. You’d end up keeping the same number of photos: NONE (since you can’t make out a thing on the Kid Tough one) and it would be a whole lot cheaper. Take it from me — you’ll have buyer’s remorse if you shell out for this complete waste of money.
