flip waterproof case
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have not used the case very much underwater, but use it often times while on boats. All of the buttons have worked well up to this point and have submerged it a few times without any noticeable leaking. Definitely a nice thing to have when around water, but not positive I would trust the case 100% for snorkeling until I get to use it some more underwater.

Absolutely great

Easy to use, and for the price, one of the best purchases I have ever made

Exactly what it is supposed to be
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a very good waterproof enclosure for the Flip Ultra Video camera. Very easy to use and works well in any water environment. My kids have taken this to the water park to video the water slides as they went down. Worked perfect all day. Button extensions are almost better than the buttons on the camera and I have NO issues using them.

If you have flip, you need this
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you have flip you ned this case. It’s great for inclement weather or underwater as rubber seal protects camera. No problem with camera functions as specially designed for flip cameras & is so ultra cool. Wonderful product as it protects the camera too & is just really, really nice. Had a flip for several years before I got this & now I don’t know how I survived without it as it’s that’s good of an investment. Love your flip, then you need this case.

Read the directions before use!

This was for my 11-year-old daughter’s camera. She put it in the case, shut it, and then proceeded to the pool. The camera got wet and ended up dying. After talking to her we realized that though she had closed the case, she didn’t completely seal it as instructed. Lesson learned for us! The case is great if you use it properly.

Great Underwater Camera-Case!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This worked great! I got it tonight and tried in the sink, and the camera stayed completely dry! I have yet to take it in a pool but will do so tommorow.

*NOTE: This Case is for Flip Video Ultra 1st Generation (60min.)

Case doesn’t fit Flip UltraHD Camcorder!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have a couple of digital cameras (Sonys) and have the waterproof cases for them, so I figured this would be along the same lines. And it is — except that the case I received, to my surprise, simply doesn’t fit my Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (Black) (Which apparently 18% of people buy along with this case, so I’m guessing the UltraHD is a “first generation” — who knows? I can’t find that information anywhere).

The inside dimensions of this case are probably no more than a millimeter or two out of spec, but that’s more than enough to make it such a tight fit for the camera that you would be forced to wedge it into the case permanently, since once you got it installed you’d have to break the case to get it back out, and that’s simply not right.

As to it’s in-the-water performance, who knows? Reading some of the other reviews here, maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t even get that far.

Flip underwater case leaked HOWEVER it was my fault
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
great, easy to use, well worth the money. every function workes perfectly. However, it leaked with i didn’t check the seal. it rolled out of position and my flip is toast. But i’ll buy another one and the case is fine, just make certain you check the seal. Here’s some video i shot while surfing. [...] (Tom Allen) and this up on [...] I also use a GoPro Wide Angle mounted on my boards.

Excellent product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a divemaster, I am well acquainted with underwater cameras and maintaining integrity of the camera components. Unfortunately, out of deep water, I’m not so smart. On a recent trip I put my flip in the pocket of a wet bathing suit (in a neoprene case). It took two days to dry out before it would operate again. I went online and ordered the underwater case, even after reading the reviews about all the leaks. I checked the seals and the operation, crossed fingers and dove into the pool. No problem, no leaks, and the video is relatively distortion free, but, as expected, the sound is somewhat muffled. Strangely enough the buttons on the flip work far easier in the case than out of the case. I will probably keep it in the case most of the time for that reason. So far, so good.

First generation only
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my daughter to go on water rides with but she has a second generation mimo flip. It does not work with the second generation. The product was $38, so I found a 30 minute first generation flip on ebay and the caseworks great with it. The videos are as clear as the water is. The case is well built and is worth $38 if you will film underwater or on water rides. Just don’t buy it unless you have the 30 minute first generation.

used once leaks
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
leaked like a sieve in two feet of water. lost 4 months of pics of honduras. the camera was fine but the housing was crap. i guess i should have tested it before i used my flip in it but huda thunk? good thing i bought from amazon. they only gave a partial refund after 4 months but others wouldn’t have given me anything. lots of other better stuff than flip out there.

Flip Video Underwater Case works for the Mino too, with caveats
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have the mino and couldn’t find a case for it but read somewhere that someone successfully used this case with the mino so I tried it. The negatives: you can’t work any of the controls while the mino is in the case, and there’s too much room so the mino jiggles around bumping the case which wreaks havoc on your audio. But you can just hit record and put it in, lock it up, and it works. It doesn’t obscure the lens and it keeps it dry. I put some foam in the case to keep it from jiggling around and that solved the audio problem as well. It would be great if they would make a case specifically for the mino but until then, this seems to work.

Flip Video Underwater Case
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the Flip Ultra and the Underwater case for 1st generation Flip Ultra in February for our vacation to Hawaii in May 2009. I read all the reviews and though some were negative I decided to take a chance. I couldn’t be happier! The camera takes great movies and the underwater case worked flawlessly for the week we were in Hawaii on Oahu at the North Shore. The camera slipped in and out of the case easily and all of the controls were easy to activate in and out of the water. I just made sure the seals were clean and washed the case after each dive. I had no leaks on over 6 snorkeling trips (2-10ft), including one trip where we snorkeled with sharks. I experienced none of the problems described by other users. I would highly recommend the camera and case for snorkeling trips.

WARNING – This is a Fisher-Price housing
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this housing for our dive trip to St Lucia and was really excited to get some spectacular underwater video. Unfortunately the flip only made it about a minute in to our first dive. I am experienced in underwater photography and have other housings I use and maintain. This product just doesn’t cut it for any serious diving even at shallow depths. I was skeptical of the “O” ring when I first inspected it out of the package (because it isn’t really even an real O-ring) and should have went with my first instinct. This housing should be sold as water resistant and not water proof; dont make the same mistake I did and just buck-up for real unit if you want to take video on your next dive trip.

Awesome purchase
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the best money that we have spent in awhile. Took it to Disney World and had a blast on the water rides and at the Water Parks. Took a lot of abuse and didn’t leak even in the slightest. We are a bit nervous about the information on keeping it free of hair, sand etc., so didn’t take the cover off while in the Parks. Just a tiny bit dispointed on the volume of the recordings but guess that is to be expected when the unit is completely sealed. All of the feature buttons worked great too. Love this thing.

Great case worked great. i tried to made it work with the flip ultra hd and it didn’t work. the specs on the ultra and ultra hd are almost identical, but this case is definitely customised for the flip ultra.

must have for waterparks!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R15VIREVBDUN04 This housing worked great for us! We were able to capture the fun on the water slides at Glenwood Hot Springs pool (see video and sorry for all the screaming….it was fast!!) as well as whitewater rafting. The flip in general is so easy to use that my 9 and 6 year old boys were able to operate it when they went down the slides by themselves. Definitely worth well more than I paid for it!

The good and the so/so
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I took the flip camera and housing scuba diving to a depth of 76 feet. Yeah, yeah…I exceeded the recommended depth the housing was rated for. Good News – the case did not leak…Bad News – the camera won’t operate below 20 feet. Once I got below 20ft, the camera would switch to a black info screen stating the date/memory size/time/version#/etc…I ascended back to 19ft and the camera came back, but back below 20ft the info screen appeared again. I didn’t want to cancel my dive so I continued down to the reef and bottomed out at 76ft. Never leaked and camera worked fine after diving. Used for remainder of trip for snorkeling, parasailing, peir jumping, etc…

Didn’t Ruin my Flip, works Great so Far!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R328H2MTUE4461 I too had my reservations about possibly ruining my flip video ultra (1st generation) with this case, but decided to roll the dice and give it a shot. I couldn’t be more pleased. No leaks and the video came out great – see for yourself. It does not fit the 2nd generation flip cameras.

Not an option
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I just got this case, but after too many hours on the internet (including a back and forth with the folks at Flip) I have yet to find a camera that fits it.

My best guess is that when the 2nd Generation Flip Ultra came out, this case became obsolete.

Bummer.

Works great
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the waterproof box to use my camera on a trip to Can Cun and the only thing I do not anticipate was that it would need a bigger carrying case, other that that the camera works great with the waterproof box, I took it to snorkeling with out any problem, I am happy, this summer we will keep using it.

Ruined my Flip!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’m so mad! I used the underwater housing ONE time to shoot video in 2′ of water, and it leaked and now the camera is ruined. Why not just say “This may or may not work, you be the gambler”?? Make it explicit: You have to REALLY know how to make the seal tight, or you will blow it in a big and expensive and cruelly disappointing way. My rechargeable batteries also got corroded in the process, so it’s a double loss. Grr.

So Pleasantly Surprised!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
When I discovered that I could purchase an underwater housing unit for my Flip Video camera, I was thrilled. Yet, after reading such varying reviews of the product, I made my purchase with a bit of anxiety. Now I don’t regret my decision one bit!

I teach four hours of snorkeling class every day at the camp where I work, and after filming our adventures constantly over the past three weeks, I haven’t had one issue with the housing. At first, I borrowed another’s approach using a dry tissue inside to check the seal before putting in my camera – it was all good. Before each use, I check the seal thoroughly…keeping the O-Ring clear is the ticket, I think. I can use the on/off switch and all buttons with no problems whatsoever, and the image quality is great, even in our murky lake.

When viewing the sample video, please keep in mind that we’re snorkeling in a murky lake in SE Michigan. I think the quality is excellent for the kind of conditions we’re swimming in! Additional videos are posted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/StonyLakeSnorkeling

I just couldn’t be more thrilled with the product. As long as you’re careful with it and do a good check before each and every use, I think it’s a wonderful (and fun) way to expand use of one’s Flip Video camera!
