good, but could be better for very little.

Amazon did a great job serving up a low price, (I paid 4X as much for my underwatercase for my Sony digital camera). Shipping was fast and it was package well. The case itself is of good quality (as good as my Sony underwater case). I cannot comment on it’s worthiness yet, because I have not tested it as of yet. My Sony case came with well defined, written, pre-testing and end of use maintenance procedures and a tube of silicon-based grease for the sealing ring, a cleaning cloth, as well as maintenance procedures for the sealing ring itself. The Flip Video AWCT I received contained minimal use instructions, period. I find this to be a serious deficit because improper use and maintenance of the sealing ring by a novice underwater case buyer may cause fatal damage to their videocam.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3ILMIQZ89OWK0 I was happy to find this case on Amazon. The only other place I found it was online at the flip store and it was $50 on that site. When it arrived, the first thing I did was a tissue test. Put some toilet paper inside and made sure there was no debris on the seal, then submerged it in the kitchen sink for a while. Tissue was dry, and so we were off to test this puppy in the pool at the YMCA. It worked great! I had to take the strap off of my flip for it to fit, but this case does come with a yellow strap that you can add to it. It floats, so no need for dive for your flip if you lose your grip. As another reviewer mentioned, make sure you have the right cam to fit this case. I see reviews of people that have bought the 1st gen watercase to fit the 2nd gen ultra hd’s and giving bad reviews. There is not a way to attach this to a tripod that I can tell, and the hinge at the bottom of the case prevents it from standing up on its own. You will need to capture footage with someone holding it, or find a clever way to prop it up. I think if you are dilligent about checking the seal with each use, your flip will be fine. It states in the instructions that even one grain of sand, or a single strand of hair can cause leaks. I am exicited for next summer to enjoy this in our backyard pool, and the water rides at Cedar Point!

Great stuff, easy to use

This is a very good case – worked just fine, did not leak water and all buttons worked well. Have some great videos now. One thing – always make sure you get the correct case for your camcorder – there are several different types available.

Right price, quality build!

Still waiting to try it out in the ocean, but so far all of my fresh/shallow water tests have lived up to my expectations. The underwater housing is surprisingly well built, especially for the price. Easy to use and well thought out!

Double the fun of the Flip Video alone
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
New product but worked very well when we took it snorkeling in the ocean. The video is easy to carry, ridiculously easy to use (one button on, one to record) and the case doesn’t hurt the clarity of the video. Did an excellent job protecting my Flip Ultra videocamera and made underwater shots so easy I took plenty of downright silly ones!

I took the Flip in the Dead Sea and the Flip is still alive.

The underwater case for my Flip Ultra worked in a super fine way. I took it into the dead sea whilst on my Egypt Israel trip. I’m kicking myself for not taking it into the Red Sea. It looks cool and it works cool. So it’s cool. [...].

One Thing, Really
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This item’s great – snorkeling, dives of less than 30 feet, kayaking, and other things where you might worry about a camcorder or camera.

The one thing I would say is that I wish it was rated to 60-100 feet instead of thirty. Obviously video and pictures often wouldn’t be good at that depth – but it would mean I could just carry the camera or stow it away if I was going deeper than 30 feet – as well as most divers, since most divers aren’t really into depth diving. Surfacing and going back down unnecessarily isn’t usually good for dive time, obviously, because the frequent condensing and expansion of nitrogen can cause decompression sickness. Most regular open water divers I think would benefit if it was rated for more depth.

Okay, I can understand it might not make as much profit if it was rated higher. Then again… People might appreciate a higher depth rating if they drop it!
