kinda disappointed.

hard to see anything in good detail. it was a birthday gift for an eight year old, so we didn’t want to get anything too expensive. he might accidentally break it in the near future. kids, what are you gonna do? that said, it is not the greatest telescope.
Decent For The Price
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The item come partially assembled, but it’s not difficult to finish setting up. It does take some tweaking in lining up the laser finder and adjusting the acompanying 2 lenses. I can see craters on the moon. The quality is excellent. I still haven’t been able to see a planet, but I guess it’s because I don’t know exactly where to look.
It’s not so easy to get the telescope to point to and exact point. That is, after you move it to the point you want, it shifts a little away. So sometimes you have to hold it in place. The manual controls to guide the scope vertically and horizontally aren’t smooth enough for ease of use.
I am 5′ 7″ and I have to sit to use it comfortably, this is because when I’m standing I have to bend over too much to reach the eye-piece, which will be about 4 feet from the ground when the stand is fully extended. The moon look great though!
Awesome telescope

I got this telescope for my daughter’s birthday. This is an awesome telescope, especially for a first telescope. The seller I went through had a great price. The telescope is touchy, but if you can deal with that, it is a great buy.

Perfect for any young astronomer!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this telescope this past December as a Christmas present for my 10 year old sister. She had always wanted a telescope so she could sit on the grass at night, staring at the stars. As she is in no way looking to become an astronomer, and we knew the telescope would be nothing more than a novelty for her, I was searching for something inexpensive, yet sturdy. In the past the telescopes she has received were purchased for around fifty dollars at a toy store, only to be opened up and found not to work and to fall apart within a few days. After doing some research online this telescope seemed to be the best option – as the price and reviews all screamed positive!
I placed my order and received the product within 7 days, on standard shipping. After my sister opened up the package we tested it out, and it worked great. The features on it are limited, but that’s perfect for an amateur astronomer. We get a clear view of the skies, and since December it’s been taken out at least once a week for some fun entertainment.
We’ve used the CD that came with it to pull up a map of the skies, and have tried to find some specific objects. While it did take some time, we did find some planets and constellations. We are not space enthusiasts however, and just looking through the eyepiece is enough enjoyment for us.
I’d recommend this product for anyone who just wants to see the stars and moons and planets at night! As long as you aren’t looking to…measure star sizes, discover a new planet, or find aliens floating around up there, I can safely say that you won’t be disappointed.
MEADE SUCKS!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
If you want to buy a telescope go ahead but I really would advise NOT to buy a Meade telescope! Their customer service sucks!!! I bought a Meade telescope which turned out to be a faulty piece. I had it sent back and for that process itself I had to call them 8 times!!! After grovelling at their feet I finally got a UPS label to ship it back to them( the customer support guy told me he would send it and I never got it and finally the 8th time I said I would not hang up the phone untill I had the UPS label in my inbox!). In those two weeks I called them 10 times and each time I got a different story. Some people said they hadnt even got it, some said they did and it was in application, after a week some said it was not even in application and that the product was out of stock, some said it had already been shipped. If I could afford a lawyer I’d sue them.
Meade RB-60 Refractor Telescope
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
At the price this is an absolute steal. I own several telescopes. The optics in this 60mm “spy glass” telescope are really superb for viewing the moon.
All telescopes in this price range suffer from wimpy tripods and this one is no exception.
This is a great buy.

Meade Rb-60 / 70055Lf 60Mm A-Series Altazimuth Refractor Telescope
This telescope is worthless. Do not buy! It is cheap and mostly made of low grade plastic and the optics are no good, plus the LCD that is part of the telescope is defective.
Good Telescope But Look Arround
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a good telescope but look arround Roberts Store has this way over priced you can find this telescope for less than 1/4 the price on other sites and some even have free shipping.
Quick set-up Good viewing
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had real good luck with this product. Set-up was a snap. I actually enjoyed adjusting it. I viewed what appears to be a satelite though looks like a firey ship and is rather startling when you see it for the first time! The picture was clear and easy to follow with all the various easy adjustment settings within reach. I am not a pro, just a backyard watcher but I felt like a pro when I was viewing stars within minutes of my first set-up. I got the added joy of watching my husbands mouth drop when I showed him my first…….flying saucer. “I am personally hoping it was just a satilite but we won’t tell him that.” It is a good product for the price. There are bigger badder ones out there but they come with a bigger badder price tag to. For the back yard viewer this is a nice scope.
Not as powerful as expected.

Guess I was expecting more. You can see the moon better than with the naked eye, but you still can’t see much. If I knew where Saturn was I’d see if I can see the rings, as advertised. It is good for looking at birds in your backyard though.
Great for beginner!!

Bought this for my dad who lives on the water. He uses it to look at boats that pass by his home. He is very happy with it and says that it was easy to assemble and is easy to use.

Over promised, under delivered

This telescope was a great deal and was going to be a Christmas present. My credit card was quickly charged and told of being shipped the next day. I then received an email saying that the company was out of stock on this item and was working with Amazon to process my refund- which would take two days to even let Amazon know that they needed to refund my card. When I checked on the item today, it was still listed as available to order with overnight shipping. I am very disapointed in both this company and Amazon.
Don’t know yet
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This seems like a great product. Everything is of good quality, but either I’m stupid or you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to run it. Don’t know how to line up the red light that it talks about. I can’t even see anything through it – maybe I’m not looking in the right place???? My husband says we’ll figure it out. it will be a good lifetime gift.
Perfect gift for my husband!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had ordered this telescope as a birthday gift for my husband but didnt expect it to reach in time. My purchase came well before expected time, within 3 days it was delivered to my doorstep. I am happy with the prompt service by The Sportsman’s Guide. My husband was so excited to get it he couldnt wait to try it out (it was out of the box before I got back from work!). And it “was” fun looking at the surface of the moon. It does take a while to get used to focusing n all, but once thats out of the way, its simply wonder-fun. Waiting for another clear night.
It is what it says

I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife and we haven’t put it down since. So far we’ve seen the moon as if we were so close we could touch it and even though it took us some time to get use to the computer generated map of space, and to figure out where leo was so we could find Saturn it was fun looking for it. Now that we’ve located saturn we hope to see Mars and some more planets as the year goes by. I find it annoying though that some of these people who review these products give them bad ratings because they are either too lazy to actually work toward the desired outcome or they are just plain stupid…anyway, this product is good to go.
Awsome Scope

Bought this for my 14 year old nephew for Christmas. They just built a home in the country where he has a bedroom on the second story. He loves looking at things far off in the distance, as well as star watching with this telescope. Bargain price!
Product great for 8 year old grandson!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The telescope was great for my grandson. The instructions to assemble it were a little complicated. My biggest disappointment was the shipping! The tape was coming off and the box had a hole in it. I am glad all the parts were there!!! The only packing on the inside was a little crumpled paper. But no broken parts!
Excellent service and product.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The telescope was priced surprisingly low, was easy to set up, and arrived in a timely manner. Heartland also sent a $20.00 gift certificate with the purchase, which I have since used to purchase additional items from the catalog. I continue to receive great service from Heartland!
Basic telescope

I bought the product to use as a spotting scope for my 8″ Meade but it was too big. I used the angle viewer to convert the existing spotting scope on the Meade to an angle view. The Rb-60 provides a nice clear view but the mount is not stable enough for sky gazing. The lenses were better than I expected for this price scope. GREAT scope for the price and limited viewing.
