After reading several negative comments about this light, I was a little unsure about it but decided to give it a go. I have had it a few weeks now and am very pleased with my purchase. All the parts were there, the bulb was wrapped to prevent breakage, and set up was a breeze. My only regret at this point was not buying two of them. I’m very happy with the product and the vendor.

The Photography studio light is easy to use and put together. It is also easy to transport when going on events that may need lighting. I am not a professional photographer, I am a make-up artist who needed a light for a studio and also to take with me on jobs and it does the trick.

okay, so im non my brothers account right now.
i ordered the umbrella light on Sunday. it came in on Thursday!
that was super fast. today is my first day using the actual product. i wouldn’t say that the wattage of the bulb is too low. it works fine if the subject or model is right in front of it. this is what i used it for anyways. it gives off a natural look to my model.
the umbrella light does not look like in the pictures. the pictures dont have any name on it or anything. mines says. “aim” whatever that is…
the bulb has no information on it either. but believe me it works perfect.
i extended the stand to the highest and i reached the ceiling! i did not know it can go that hight.
this product was soooo good. im probably going to buy another one once i get the money
Good but had issues

The product works good, when you get the right one. They shipped me the wrong head piece, so the plug did not fit in any outlet in my home. (It was a 2 prong polar plug.) I had purchased it with enough time to have it for a sitting a few days after it arrived. It was difficult to contact them and when they shipped out the new piece they shipped USPS, so I didn’t have a working light for work. The new piece arrived 3 days after my sitting.
It is difficult to transport as it does not come with a bag. Also the piece is very light weight, a small breeze from a fan almost knocked mine over several times (although I am sure the umbrella didn’t help negate air flow). I would recommend attaching weights to it if you plan to use it around small children or if you have the need for a fan in the room.
Over all I feel it was a good buy, I do need to find a stronger light for this however, as the light it comes with does not do much.

I am pleased with the light and umbrella kit even though it arrived with a broken bulb.I sent a picture of the package and they sent me a replacement in a couple of days at no cost. I would purchase this item again.
Good Product, VERY Reasonably Priced

Product is a bit on the “light” side as far as construction goes which is all that prevents it from getting 5 stars from me. Comes well packaged and with a bit of common sense goes together easily. Would be best to get another brighter lamp to go with the one that comes with it. For soft side lighting this light is good but I find that coupling it with a programmable flash is necessary for solid light control.
For photography on a slim budget this is a fine buy.
As inexpensive as lighting gets

Works well for me, and you cannot beat the price. If you are starting out, you might as well get the feel for studio lighting at low cost before you dump a few hundred into an industrial-strength kit. I do commercial food and merchandise photography, much of it close ups, and cannot find anything negative about this unit. I’m putting the savings into other gear.

Ok but not as useful as I’d like

I’ve used these lights for a while and have taken some decent photos and the light output is ok for small product photography. Anything more and you will be disappointed. They were great to start learning lighting and adjusting to poor lighting challenges but will be quickly outgrown.

I was hesitant to make this purchase after reading some of the reviews, but it seemed that for every negative, there was an extremely pleased positive. I’m so glad I decided to go for it.
I was shocked when the Fed X truck arrived less than 48 hrs from the time I purchased it! I had nothing broken or rusted. Everything was packaged nicely. No instructions were needed to assemble it, and everything fit perfectly! I had it opened and put together in under 5 minutes! Im SO pleased with this purchase.
I am not using this light for photography. I purchased it to use as a minimalist floor lamp. I have to agree that for photographers, you might want to purchase a brighter bulb. For me though, this is beyond my expectations.
I love this purchase and will probably get another one.

It is a light weight stand and easily portable. The lights are a little small, but usable. I am using 65 watt bulbs in it for shooting most of the time. The small bulbs are great for shooting small objects up close.

I can not give a honest review of this item because as 11Oct2009 I have not recieved it.
This item was ordered on 09Sep2009. I am told this item was shipped to Tampa, FL and was
undeliverable and was shipped back to the manufacterer. On 10Oct2009 I emailed to cancel
this order and request a refund because I have no idea what is happening now.
This particular transaction just is not working for me.

For the price, this is a great enterance to studio lighting. As with the other reviews, the amount of light isn’t anything spectacular- you’ll need a couple, or to purchase some higher wattage cfl bulbs if you’re wanting a brighter studio setup, but this is great as a fill light. I’d recommend picking one or two up, and then later upgrading the bulb to a 70-100 watt daylight CFL bulb (for more like 300 watt output).

product was damaged upon arrival…I have not been able to get ahold of the company to return the product….co. has not returned any of my several emails. extremely dissatified, problem has yet to be solved….would not do further business with them. would not reccomend this co.
Practical

If you are into something quick and cheap, practical and easy– this is your product. I enjoy it a lot since it’s quite light and easy to carry/set up.
It might not be fancy and intricate but hey… sometimes that’s more headaches and reading than anything else. That’s my 10c.

okay, but not enough watts

I wanted something that worked. Something that was inexpensive. Something that would let me experiment with studio lighting techniques. This product is all of that, but there’s one big problem: it’s not nearly bright enough. 26w fluorescent bulbs are, what, equal to a 100w incandescent bulb? That’s not enough. You’ll be using the window light and cranking your ISO up higher than you imagined necessary on a supposedly lighted shot.
if you’re excited about this product, I recommend spending another few bucks to get something with a little higher wattage.

Good for a fill light

I was hoping that if I liked this light I could buy another for a fill light and be done with it. Sadly, it’s just not bright enough to be the primary light source; at least not with the bulb it comes with. Maybe if I replaced the bulb with something higher wattage it would be OK. I’ll still use it as a fill light, but am going to buy a different light to be my primary. It just didn’t make enough of a difference. For an inexpensive light the quality is fine, though- I didn’t have any problems with the quality, though it would have been nice to include instructions.
Good for Startup Studio Photography

I bought this to explore studio photography and was pleased with the overall construction and ease of use. It is lightweight and compact and has a pretty lengthy power cord. The only disappointments are 1) the included light is woefully underpowered for studio photography and 2) there is no max rating for what bulbs can be used.
