Coby DP702 crappity crap crap!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
save your money and buy a regular frame! I bought this for a present and opened it to put photos on it to present it. Well I changed the picture settings and the photos were still way to dark. Also when you go into the menu to change the picture quality you arent even looking at a picture just a blue screen. Sure would help to have a photo up to see while changing the settings. I feel like if you can buy a decent camera for 100 bucks then you should be able to make a viewer for the photos for less. I am wrong. I will be upgrading this digital photo frame before christmas. what a waste of my time. Good luck to anyone that gets this frame, there are better choices out there and I will post them when I find them.

DO NOT BUY THIS!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
1. It does not work with SDHC, even though amazon recommends you buy them together!

2. The resolution is waaaaay below what I thought it was going to be.

3. I received two. Only one works. 50% arrive broke

4. SDHC came out over 3.5 years ago. What the heck!!!!!

5. Seriously? It does not work with SDHC!!!!

6. Normal photos will not fit nicely on this thing.

7. This is the most important one. It does not work with SDHC. I know what your thinking? What kind of manufacturer would do this??? I don’t know, but i’m guessing they are a pretty poor one.

Worth the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This product is not one of the top high quality product but is certainly worth the price. I tried using different media and it worked well with them. When I tried a video the voice was coming properly but that could be problem with video too. Did not try other videos. The view of the frame changes based on how you position the frame. So if you dont see the photos clearly then try changing the angel of frame and things might improve.

Picture Quality not as expected
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
It is a good product, but I was disappointed with what, for me, is the most import feature: picture quality.

It is really bad, and you have to be far away from the device not to notice the pixels…

Great overall value for the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Great overall value for the price ($30 & free shipping) after Thanksgiving ’09.

As others have mentioned this model’s picture resolution is not as high as more expensive models. Spend more money if you’re looking for unsurpassed picture resolution. But if you’re looking for a digital picture frame that provides an excellent value (features vs. price), this is a great choice in my opinion.

For those that are dissatisfied with the default picture quality, please try the display settings below. I experimented with different settings until I found a combination that was satisfactory to me. You may want to tweak the settings more based on your viewing preferences.

I found it very easy to use the remote to navigate through the menus and make adjustments. From the main menu screen, select the “Setup” icon (wrench & screwdriver). Then select “Display”. There are 5 settings you can adjust. After trial and error, I settled on the following.

Brightness: 100

Contrast: 50

Hue: 50

Saturation: 50

Sharpness: 100

Also, when viewing a slideshow, I set my screen ratio to “Auto” to proportionately fill the 16:9 widescreen of the display. To adjust this press either the “Picture Mode” button on top of the frame itself or “Mode” on the remote. There are 3 choices: 4:3, 16:9, and Auto. The default ratio of 4:3 does not completely fill the display. 16:9 fills the display but stretches the picture out of proportion to do it. Auto proportionately zooms in on the picture to fill the display. Note: Obviously, since it zooms in on the picture, you will not be able to view the outer boundary of your original picture.

Coby DP-702 Digital Photo Frame
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I think this product is worth the price and is very easy to use. I was disappointed that the pictures are very dark. These same pictures are on another frame that I own and are not at all dark.

I should have known better
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this frame it at Sears. No knock on Sears. I did have doubts about the Coby brand. I thought how hard can it be to make a digital picture frame. Apparently too hard for Coby. Mine was DOA when I opened the box. There is not much else to say.

You get what you pay for!

I purchased two of these for gift. One of the power cable didn’t work! And the picture quality is abysmal!

Spend little more and get something nice!

Waste of Money
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This photo frame is just waste of money. When it is closed the frame looks cool but the display is relay bad. You can give your money to a beggar but do not buy this stuf. Leave the vedio, you can not see the still pictur, its so dark & clumsi, your nice picture looks ugely there. It has so many features but of no ues as the picture quality is worst I have ever seen.

I took it because it was cheap but now it looks like I have just wested my money. I just want to through that frame now. It realy depressed me with its Image quality, insted of giving so many features the compant could have improved such a bad picture quality.

Befor buying this I also read this type of comments but still I buyed it because it was cheap but did not thought the picture quality will be so poor, I cant imazine that picture quality can be so poor also. Belive me after buying you will realy feel to throw it out and if you gift it to someone you will be ashmed of yourself.

Not a Good Buy

Amazon was fast delivery, picture was terrible, remote was ok. PPhotos become streched if you use full screen, the pics are very grainy, I wont buy another one.

Value priced digital frame
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Coby DP702 7-Inch Widescreen Digital Photo Frame isn’t a bad product for a lower end digital frame. If you’re looking for a high resolution top notch frame, this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a nice looking frame and don’t require the latest in digital technology, this economical frame is a good choice.

Pros:

The frame is made of attractive dark wood and matted.

Works with just about any type of storage device.

The picture quality can be improved slightly by adjusting brightness and contrast.

The detachable table stand is sturdy.

Cons:

Instruction booklet provides little guidance for setup and remote control usage.

Does not have internal memory.

Photos must be resized to stretch full screen.

Resolution is low quality.

very poor quality images, buy a different frame with better resolution
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought three of these when the sale price was only $35 and today I returned all 3 to Amazon because I would be embarrassed to give these as gifts due to the very poor quality. The pictures are incredibly low quality due to the poor resolution and the colors were off. The frame I opened to keep kept getting stuck during the slideshow mode on one picture. I sent these back and ordered more expensive Pandigital frame that has better resolution. Skip this frame if you want to actually see your photos. Very unhappy with this product.

Converting video for Coby DP-702
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
After alot of trial and error, I tried the freeware SUPER conversion program from [...]. Kudos to erigthsoft as it worked with following settings. I used a USB flashdrive and put the converted video under a root folder simply named “videos” to hold the converted video. The Coby recognized this folder as holding video files:

Open SUPER conversion program

Settings are critical and should be as follows from top of screen down:

Output Container AVI, Video Codec XVID, Audio Codec MP3

Encoder – MEncoder (SUPER will select this automatically)

Video – leave disable video and stream copy unchecked

Video Scale Size 320 x 240, Aspect 4:3

Frame/Sec 30, Bitrate 768

Options – check only Hi Quality

Audio – leave disable audio and stream copy unchecked

Sampling Freq – 44100, Channels 2

Bitrate 96 kps, DVD Language Track default

Output – will show summary of above settings

Right Click in Active/File Name/Streaming Link section and select raw file to be converted

Lower left click button Encode (Active Files)

Converted Video will be output to C:program files/erightsoft/SUPER/Output folder

Good luck.

Coby DP702 7″ Digital Photo Frame FAT 32 Format only!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought the frame on Amazon for a gift. The picture quality is on the below average side. What I was really disappointed about was the fact that I bought a 2 GB SD card and filled it up, only to find that the frame uses outdated technology that only accepts 500 megabytes per SD card, no matter how much the card can actually hold. If you still want the frame don’t bother with a card larger than 500mb because it would be wasted with the frame. Basically the frame tells you there are no photos on the card if there are more than 500 mb of information on your SD card. The frame is not compatible with SDHC cards. Buyer Beware!!! If I had it to do over again, I would NOT buy this frame.

Digital Phot Frame
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I really love this product. It was so much easier to set up and get it going than the last one I purchased by another manufacturer. I would recommend this product.

Don’t buy this!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I thought I was getting a great deal with this digital photo frame and was very excited. I now know why it didn’t detail the specs of it because the picture was awful. There was no way I was giving it to my parents and for $30 I wuoldn’t even keep it for myself. It was more complicated to use than others, although it had a few cool features. I sent it back the day after I opened it and bought a Kodak. The Kodak is worth the extra money and looks great!

does not read sdhc cards
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I got the product and it is my first one. so i see nothing wrong with it other than the fact that it does not read 4G SDHC cards. i have an SD 2G card that works fine but anything over 2G is SDHC. it wont read the HC cards at all. otherwise very good product.

Horrible quality
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought the frame as a gift to my parents, they enjoyed for about two weeks and then the screen went blank. I called customer service and they wanted the original purchase receipt which I could not find. Anyways, they refused to do an exhchange. Also, I did not like the quality of the picture provided. For this price, I think, one should look for a better product. Hope it helps someone in determining their choice of buying a digital photoframe. Don’t go with COBY!!!!

Good basic photo frame
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This frame is a good basic frame, not too complicated to set up or load photos on. Directions are easily to understand, even my non-technical Mom could figure it out. The outside frame looks good, and it feels solid. Picture quality is *good*, not high def TV quality, but good. The original settings right out of the box are a little dark, but it was easy to figure out how to adjust the brightness.

Overall, this is a decent frame that does what it is supposed to do – easily hold and display photos.

maybe good enough for 2 years ago
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
There’s nothing inherently terrible about the Colby 7-inch woodgrain digital photo frame. It fulfills the lower-priced tier well enough and does all the things that people apparently want in a digital frame (playing music, if that’s important). The screen quality is just okay, but for the price I guess the fact that it’s no better than a Kodak frame from I had 2 years ago is somewhat understandable, though I only paid about $80 at the time for slightly smaller frame.

Overall, anyone looking for a basic frame that does all the things that are standard (memory card or USB cable picture loading, all the basic music file types) should be okay paying for this on sale, but I’m partial to larger screen sizes with higher resolution.

It’s a digital frame
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The LCD screen isn’t that great, it’s ok, but not crystal clear like some of the frames I’ve seen.

Also don’t expect to just drop pictures in and have it autosize them with good results. You’ll have to crop your photos to ensure they fill the entire screen.

Poor quality compared to others
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have only used the kodak and the smart parts brands. However, compared to both of those brands this one is far inferior. I ordered 5 frames. Three were smart parts and 2 were Colby. I disliked this brand so much that I payed the return shipping even though these were gifts and ordered the smart part brand for the two.
