awesome printer!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This printer is a bargain considering the exceptional quality and speed of the prints. The scanner is also excellent. I’m extremely happy with my decision in buying this formidable printer. Buy one, you won’t regret…
Love the Touchscreen and wireless
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have this connected to my laptop via the wireless setup. It took awhile to install all the software with the included disk (like any other program) but after that it was an easy setup. I use WEP encryption on my wireless network and had no problem setting it up. I’ve also utilized the direct printing via blue-tooth with an ENV3 phone, which was easy and a handy feature to have. The Memory card slots work well and the printer has some included “quick forms” that you can print directly from the printer (calendar, checklist, music paper, games- sudoku, mazes, tic tac toe). You also have the option to scan to either the computer, memory card or usb thumb drive. I guess like everything else printers are becoming smarter, you can upload your photos to snap fish a web printing service directly from the printer (haven’t used this feature yet though).
When I initially set it up it seemed to be constantly realigning the print heads, after every print job it would go through a 1-2 minute cycle of alignment. I found that annoying but it doesn’t seem to do it as much. The printer has five printer cartridges, two black, 3 color, I haven’t used it long enough to gauge ink consumption. I’m loving the touchscreen interface, with a pretty good sized display. It’s easy to navigate and allows you to do quite a bit without a computer.
So far… a “dog”

I bought this printer today because of the positive reviews on Amazon. The setup took a long time and I had to call my phone company to find the requested WEP. Once the first computer was setup… it was easy (though time-consuming) to set up the second laptop.
Was excited by the bells and whistles but, just hasn’t yet delivered the quality of scan that I need. I do a lot of graphics… print it out a graphic, modify it and scan. The scan is very pixilated… and faded looking. I have tried different dpi (default is set at 200); I tried 300 and 600 (forget 600… takes forever.) Also tried other settings. Have emailed HP for support. (will update this review once I hear from them).
Also had many error messages when trying to scan. The printer/scanner panel said, “try scanning from computer”. The computer said, “scanner engaged by other device.” Using their troubleshooting system, I was advised to “reboot the printer”, “reboot the computer”, “reinstall the software”… I always managed to get it to scan (without ever reinstalling)… just by retrying first the printer screen and then the computer screen… but WHAT A HASSLE! I don’t have time for this… especially for a mediocre end result. Unless HP can come up with a solution, this is being returned tomorrow!
Best printer I’ve ever owned.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the best printer I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had several over the years – HP, Epson, Canon, etc. I’m using it with a Mac computer. Setup was fully automatic and painless. You’ve got to love the Mac. I use an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router for my home network, so I connected the printer to the Airport Extreme with a standard printer USB cable, opened the Mac’s System Preferences > Print & Fax, and made this Airport Extreme- connected HP printer my default printer. Took about 10 seconds. Now when the kids visit with their Mac portables and need to print something, they just log on to the home network and print wirelessly to the printer. They don’t have to use my desktop Mac to print any more.
A note on setup for Mac owners: the setup instructions tell you that if you have the current Snow Leopard operating system, you should not install anything on the included CD. I know that many people don’t read instructions, so I just want to remind you here. Mac users, ignore the CD. Don’t use it. Snow Leopard already includes the printer drivers for this printer and will use them automatically. Love the Mac.
But the real test is the print quality. This is the first photo printer I’ve ever owned where the printed photos look exactly like what I see on my computer screen. They are perfect. I’m using Apple’s Aperture program to manage and print my photos.
For normal printing, the printer dialog that appears when you want to print offers a number of presets, including one called “plain paper, fast draft, black & white.” I now use that for all my normal printing. When it says “fast,” it means it. Pages literally shoot out of the printer. I’ve never seen anything print faster. The printer is quieter than any other printer I’ve owned. It makes sounds when it prints, of course, but nothing you could call “noisy.”
Scanning and copying work fine. The front touch screen makes everything easy to use.
Finally, HP tech support. I called them once, and was talking to a very competent and helpful tech support fellow within less than a minute of placing my call. He knew Mac computers, and he knew this HP printer. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
5 stars. Buy it.

Product arrived promptly, was easy to set up, and produces excellent photos. The original ink cartridges don’t last long, however, so buy additional ink.

THIS PRINTER IS AWESOME! IT’S WORTH $100 MORE THAN IT’S SELLING FOR. THE TOUCH SCREEN IS VERY SIMPLE. THE SAVING ON INK IS WORTH IT ALONE. AND ITS A COPIER, SCANNER, 2-SIDED, ETC. MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE CD FIRST FOR THE WIRELESS OR ELSE. BEST ELECTRONIC ITEM FOR THE MONEY WE EVER GOT. JUST BUY IT…

This printer was right for me. I have no phone line in my apartment, so no fax. That also means no internet need for me.It has all the rest of the features I needed. The pictuers are great. the scan allowed me to scan all my pictures from my entire life to DVD’s and give them to all family members for Christmas.
Wonderful Wireless Printer

I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set-up this printer. It was as easy as, plug in, turn it on and WHAM it basically set itself up. Great printing of text and graphics. The photo’s are great. This is a no brainer….
Amazing Photos

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this printer. It prints the most amazing photos. The colors are vibrant and sharp. I printed off a photo and took it to work to show my co-workers they were all amazed at the quality of the picture. The best printer I have ever had.(and I have had several) We use this printer for all the printers in the house, two desktops and two laptops, have had no problems. I am so happy with this printer and you will be too.
hps best printer!

The printer says what It does and does what it says! I would highly recommend this printer especially – the photosmart premium print good quality pictures and the scanner is a nice feature. It also comes with a good amount of ink to start you off with not half filled.
Very, very happy.

Great printer for the price. Easy to set up, easy to use. I’ve not had it long, so reliability is still an assumption, but at this point I’m very, very happy. Would definitely recommend.
Great photos as well as documents.
Awesome printer -DO NOT LISTEN TO LOW INK LEVELS!

UPDATE-
This Printer will tell you,”Ink is low, replace” then you can print like 60 more great quality pages with the cartridges, DO NOT LISTEN TO LOW INK LEVELS!
Just bought this last night and I’m very impressed. Very nice quality photos and install went without any problems, works with my wireless router smooth. Printed docs from over 35 feet away through walls. Touchscreen works good. Can’t wait to try out the [...], blue tooth features, and scanner. Was a little disappointed that router is required because I will have to buy one of those to use this printer when I move out but that’s no biggie because to get it below $200 is a steal anyways. The photos print out look like photos from a Costco photo lab. I bought this for the wireless printing and when you have a laptop that moves all over the house then the advantage of a wireless printer is unbelievable. Now I will do better in school. I don’t care for the price of ink because $40 every semester is probably what it’ll cost and that’s inexpensive for the convenience of wireless features. Plus, Amazon throws out deals on ink all the time and if you get desperate you can always by refill ink and use a power drill to refill the blotter but that’s a little crazy when a person can afford it.
Outstanding Product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Replaced a Photosmart 1215 printer that I thought was really good, but this printer “smokes” that one in quality and speed. The photos are just fabulous and photo reproduction using the scanner to “blow-up” a picture is just incredible.
Had one startup problem: 2 installled programs would not print results and a call to Hewlett Packard solved the problem. They installed another printer driver for those programs and everthing OK.
I would recommend this all-in-one for anyone who appreciates great quality photos.
Although I haven’t purchased print cartridges yet, the concept of individual cartridges surely will reduce my printing costs by purchasing only the colors I need.
HP Photosmart Premium Printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The HP Photosmart Premium Printer works great. Installation went smoothly and the print quality is very good. The only thing the instructions weren’t real clear on was setting up to print both Wireless and Blu-Tooth. I had to set the printer twice as two seperate printers (one for wireless and one for Blu-Tooth) and then select the printer for how I was currently printing.
HP Photosmart Premium All in One
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Great printer especially for the money. Set up was easy for all but the most computer illiterate. They choice of wireless, WiFi or ethernet was both welcome and easy to set up.
We have only used a few days but have printed both documents and photos. The documents are fast and clear. The photo was awesome. Ink consumption remains to be seen.
The onscreen menu is truly idiot proof.
I havent tried the scanner or copier yet.

PROS: PRICE WAS REASONABLE AT THE TIME OF SALE. VERY FAST PPM. FAST SHIPPING. THIS IS MY 5TH HP PRINTER.
CONS: 31 DAYS LATER THEY LOWERED THE PRICE ABOUT $40.00. THEY DECLINED A PRICE MATCH REFUND AND THEY WERE VERY RUDE TO ME FOR ASKING. COLORS ARE NOT THAT CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL PHOTO COLORS. FIRST SHIPPED PRINTER WAS DEFECTIVE, BUT THE EXCHANGE PROCESS WAS STRESS-FREE (EXCEPT FOR THE WAITING PERIOD). ALL INITAL INK CARTRIDGES HAD VERY LITTLE INK IN THEM. IN THE PAST, HP FILLED THEIR INITAL CARTRIDGES ABOUT HALF FULL.
Features work beautifully and feels very strong!

I just got this printer on Black Friday for only $99, but wow, I would actually pay Amazon’s price for this product. Here’s why:
APPEARANCE: Very sleek and dark – doesn’t look cheap. Doesn’t feel cheap, either; my past printers have felt flimsy (loose, thin trays, etc.). Fits nicely on my small file cabinet.
INSTALLATION: Very easy. I installed mine using wireless only – I didn’t even need to use the USB cable (which they did include, which was kind). The touchpad on the printer itself is used to set everything up (with the exception of installing the CD on the computer); it even pulled up a full keyboard for me to type in my wireless router’s security code. I was impressed.
WIRELESS PRINTING AND SCANNING: No problems here! Fast communication, very satisfactory.
PRINTING PERFORMANCE: Short warmup time. Very little noise, which I appreciate. Print quality is very good on the Normal setting. I tried the Fast Draft setting as well, which is acceptable for text documents but not pictures. I also printed a 4×6 photo using the sample photo paper they provided, and I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the quality of the print; it looked like a professionally developed photo. Autoduplex feature works great as well. Also, the printer emits a little bell-like sound to let you know when your print has finished. I find the sound to be very nice, and it’s actually helpful because the printer is so quiet that I don’t notice when a print has finished (until I hear the chime).
TOUCHPAD: I really like this feature – it adds sophistication and modernization to the printer. Print, copy, scan using the touchpad… the menus are very self-explanatory. My only mild complaint is that I occasionally have to try twice to get it to recognize the fact that I am tapping the screen. I find that a quick but firm tap works better than a light tap or a longer, firmer touch.
SOFTWARE: I used the included software to scan a couple documents and it was attractive and easy to use, but I have since been simply scanning from the machine itself since it seems easier. The touchpad really does let you do everything.
I’m extremely happy with this product and heartily recommend it.
Works perfect on my Macbook with Snow Leopard
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Set up was really fast and easy on my macbook running snow leopard. The wireless set up was also easy since I have tried this with other printers and the set up was a headache. The quality of the prints are real good. I still prefer going to the lab since it is faster and convenient. But being able to print a few photo lab copies for friends and family is awesome. Printing speed is fast. The touch screen is great as well. It is very easy to use and follow. I love the fact that it is wireless. I can print from anywhere in my house and I can scan and have the image sent to my computer without being at my computer. Of course, that will only work if your computer is on. What makes this printer really great is being able to print from my iphone. My girlfriend who has a htc touch is able to print from her phone with bluetooth. Those two features are what made this printer very versatile and convenient.
Fabulous Printer!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the easiest printer to install that I have ever owned. The instructions were very clear and straightforward. The printer is fast and the print quality is excellent, especially the photographs.
The only “down side” (if you can even call it that) is it can be a bit noisy, especially during startup. However, it is a fair tradeoff for the speed and quality of the printing.
I heartily recommend this all-in-one printer!

I’ve long just assumed Canon was the brand for anything photo-related– cameras, paper, ink, and printers. I owned HPs years ago, before digital cameras were any good, and I hadn’t bothered to try them out again to see how they might have improved. I was happy with my Canon photo printers, so when my old one recently died, I bought a new Canon Pixma MP620, one of their latest-and-greatest all-in-one printers. As far as features go, it’s pretty close to this HP model.
I installed the HP Photosmart Premium in about half an hour. Most of that time was spent just sitting and waiting for the printer to do whatever it does during installation– there was nothing difficult about it except that there was no USB cable included. (Hey, there are still some of us backward people out here who don’t have wireless/Ethernet connections.)
To be clear, I don’t care about the fancypants features. I don’t print pictures from my phone, I don’t have any need for wireless printing, etc. The touch screen is a nice feature for sure, but what I care about is print quality, period. I take lots of photos and I want them to print out as well as possible.
So I did a comparative test. I printed out a family portrait on my Canon Pixma, and then the same one on my new HP Photosmart Premium. And I literally had to do a double-take: the HP one was crisper and clearer. I particularly noticed the difference in the faces: facial shading was more accurate and eyes were better defined.
The HP photo paper included is thinner than the standard Canon paper, which I don’t like, but it obviously had no negative effect on quality.
I wish this also included fax capability.
Both photo paper and regular paper load into the front in two separate trays, so you can keep each stocked. A very minor complaint is that I would have liked a slider/guide in front of the paper as well as side to side, to stop paper from sliding forward. I got an error message saying no paper was loaded just because it wasn’t pushed back far enough, which would not have happened if there was a guide in place.
But like I said, that’s a very minor complaint. I’m very impressed.
The Best Printer I’ve Ever Bought
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have bought in the last 15-20 years a number (7-8) of printers – All but one was an HP. Some were for my work at Bell Labs. About 4 for home. This printer is, by far, the best I’ve ever had. The color is beautiful. I’ve used it for over a month and I’ve done lots of printing. No jams and nothing but smooth operation. The touch interface is great. I have set it up on four computers – a windows 7 on a wired router, an XP USB connected, and two wireless laptops. The setup was quick and flawless on all four. I would recommend to anyone.

Just too adequate for a mid-range multifunction.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a printer that should be a lot easier to setup, because it’s pretty simple to use and figure out without a manual and the print quality and speed are quite good. It’s hard to say how it’ll fare over time, but given that I had some crappy prints right off the bat–before it started to work properly–I’m not exactly convinced that this is a printer I can expect to last me awhile. Over all I found it adequate, but for the price it ought to be a bit more than that.
My first color printer was an HP, and at 300dpi it looked terrible. Nonetheless, at the time that’s what $450 got you and it was awesome. Now you can get a printer that extraordinarily outperforms my first color printer for about 1/10th of that price. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the point I’m trying to make is this: if you’re going to pay more than you would for the cheapest printer in the line–which will do a pretty nice job even by today’s standards–you have to ask why. The answers I get from this “premium” HP Photosmart are nothing compelling.
You can expect nice prints, and you can expect them reasonably fast. If that’s all you want, the only regret you may have is that you feel you’ve spent too much to get them. Additionally, $200 isn’t necessarily going to break the bank (although I’m always comparing printers to the cost of my first and I’m constantly amazed by how cheap they are, even with the cost of ink). Still, if you’re not going to see your print quality degrade as you spend less. This printer puts out nice photos, and can print black and white documents quickly, but you’re going to get pretty much the same thing on the low end. (I say this having experienced some of HP’s lower-end printers.) So what you end up with is a bunch of additional features thrown into this printer, and I don’t think any of them are compelling enough to warrant the extra money.
This is a multifunction unit, so you of course get your standard printer/scanner/copier combination, but you also get a touch screen with features that let you print out pre-made forms and games, for example. You can add frames and other things to photos. You can do a number of other trivial things you probably won’t ever really do. There really isn’t much of a value-add with these little toys HP has thrown in. What would be more compelling is a feature set along the lines of Epson’s Artisan series, where, for example, you can print on CDs and DVDs in addition to various types of papers. The wireless functionality in the Artisan series is also easier to setup. It’s not quite as simple as I’d prefer, but HP fails pretty miserably in the wireless department with this particular model (and I assume others). The wireless setup actually seems pretty simple, but it doesn’t work as advertised. The setup ended up being far more complicated than it needed to be. Had it worked the way HP described in the instructions, I could’ve been printing wirelessly after about 30 seconds of concentrated effort. Instead, it didn’t work numerous times until I somehow managed to get my Mac to see the printer. Overall it was frustrating and that’s far from ideal.
Ultimately, the features you gain with a printer like this are just going to be a bunch of things you won’t really use much but paid for anyhow. My recommendation would be to go with Epson or Canon, as you’ll get a great feature set with Epson multifunction printers and I, personally, prefer the photo quality of the higher-end Canon inkjet printers (which is not to say the Epson printers aren’t very capable as well–it’s more a matter of preference, though I do use my Artisan 800 more than anything). But if you’re loyal to the HP brand or want to purchase an HP for whatever reason, I’d recommend spending less and getting a lesser model so long as the feature set with those models is adequate for your needs. If not, I’d recommend spending more. HP has some interesting higher-end multifunctions with their web-connected printers, so you may want to look at those instead of this particular unit. I don’t mean to be so harsh on this printer, because it does do its job adequately, but it really doesn’t earn it’s status as a mid-range multifunction. Perhaps in the next iteration it’ll get a little better, but for now I think you’re best off buying just about anything else.
Excellent Printer at an excellent price

I am very happy with this printer. I’ve had it just one week, but use it many times each day. I saw this same printer this weekend on sale at OfficeMax for $229. Just some things I noticed which may or may not be of concern.
1. Very few printed instructions. You need to access the HP Solutions Center, which is copied to your PC from the provided CDRom. It took me awhile to figure out how to scan, and that just pressing the scan button on the printer doesn’t do it. (You need to access Scan menu within HP Solutions Center, from there you see the scan appear on your PC screen, and can crop etc).
2. Somewhat noisy — the act of printing itself isn’t too bad, but there is a crunching sound before and after it prints which I assume is the printer heads adjusting themselves. I thought I forgot to remove some packing but it is just the way it is.
3. Wireless setup — was pretty easy – but an error of can’t find serscan.sys file. Seems this is common based on related online inquiries, and you need to copy it from your Windows CDRom. I didn’t have them. It may also be buried within your Windows System folder, so I searched online awhile, and downloaded the file to the proper directory to work.
Hopefully these are all the concerns I’ll have. The test print of the provided photo had amazing color and crispness. Went out and bought 100 pack of HP Photo Plus paper 4″ x 6″ — runs about $23 full retail.
Way too expensive …

I am not able to review this product based on performance; however, I thought those shopping should know that this product retails for 199.99 on hp’s site, and they are currently selling it for 139.99. DO NOT pay what Amazon is asking for this printer.
That said, I am excited to try it out. All of the reviews have been terrific.
