Great printer!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is such a great little printer!! It is nice and compact so that you can take it pretty much anywhere, and the quality of the prints looks like it has been professionally done!! I use this printer all the time, and since I got it, I haven’t been anywhere else to print my pictures!! Definitely a great buy!!

Small and Handy
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Like most HP printers this product is well-engineered and performs its function admirably. It is stylish with a small footprint and works well as a companion to my HP 1020 Laser Printer. The only complaint I have is the software that comes with it can be annoying. It will pop-up at inopportune times and isn’t overly intuitive. Pretty much a standard HP product with excellent hardware and sub-par software.

HP Portable Printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This printer is a very nice compact package. Easy to use and the pictures look good to me. I use the printer separately, not hooked up to a computer. In fact, I have no intention of ever using it with a computer. I use it as a convenient, fast, easy way to print a picture, without having to turn on your computer. You can also take the printer with you when you go places and print on the spot. You can easily zoom in, crop, and some other simple edits right on the unit. If I want to do more extensive editing, I use my computer. I haven’t used any of the other portable printers out there, so I can’t comment on printing speed, etc., but I am very happy with this HP printer.

This little portable was our economical Christmas gift this year and we love it. The photos are amazing and true to color and it is so easy to print off of the memory stick. We bought the battery and case and anticipate a lot of fun at parties and family get togethers!!

Great printer. Indeed I purchased it for my daughter-in-law whose computer abilities are about zero. She has had absolutely no problems with using the printer directly off her camera. Not only are the photos good, but the printer also seems to be very good on ink use.

Not for Windows ME
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great little printer, but be forewarned. If you want to use it with a PC, there are two discs that come with it. One is labeled Vista, the other 98, ME, 2000, XP. I have an ME PC. When I tried to load the ME disc, it said it REQUIRES XP. So, if you want to use it directly with a camera (the memory card from the camera), you’re OK. But if you need your PC and it has 98 or ME, forget it!

A high quality printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is our first photo printer. I was pleased with its ease of setup and use. I was amazed at the high quality photos it produces. It is really fun to have instant access to our photos without leaving home. I’m sure that we will enjoy its portability over time. The unit itself, along with reasonable ink costs, make this a great value.

I am somewhat disappointed that the printer is not a stand alone portable.

My previous portable printer was capable of enhansing photos and I find that this one does not have that capablility. I am having a problem with the quality of the prints and will have to contact HP as the blue sky and the gray concrete has a reddish hue and I do not know if it is a problem with the printer or the ink cartridge, but I will contact HP to solve this problem. Photos can only be enhanced when the printer is connected to the PC. I feel that this is a negative feature of this printer.

Don’t buy it!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
It sure looks great but looks are deceiving in this case. I purchased this printer and now after printing a grand total of 200 pictures it has died. The power supply is definitely junk and when it does turn on the paper feed jams. I get 2-3 misprints for every decent print and after a few months the pictures I printed and put up on the fridge have faded (despite using expensive ‘high quality’ HP paper and ink). Essentially, this machine is good for people who like to torture themselves with shoddily built products, not for a person who expects quality. You will save money if you avoid it, and unlike the fading printout pictures on my fridge, the ones beside them printed through a web service have continued to be glossy and top notch. Save your money. Next time I will go with Canon or just stick with web service prints…surprisingly less expensive and much better quality when all points are considered. Good Luck! I hope this has been helpful!

Wonderful little photo printer

Loved the printer, does a really nice job on those 5×7′s. I did have some initial complications with the paper feed, but after I found the rest for the fixed (versus movable) side all is well!

works exactly the way it promises — extremely easy to use and prints beautiful photos. All I need is one that prints 8 x 11s as well as 5x7s and more.

Not what I expected
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I just bought this printer and it wasn’t what I expected. I had an Epson Picturemate that I liked quite a lot, but it died after about a year and a half. I thought I would go back to HP and get an upgrade to at least as good quality, better reliability, and 5×7 photos to boot.

Setup was easy and I was printing from Mac iPhoto in about 20 minutes. But unfortunately the first photo that I tried to print was taken in difficult lighting conditions. Nonetheless it looks good on the screen and there is lots of interesting green and brown vegetation in dark areas of the picture. On the screen it looks good, but on the printer the dark areas of vegetation just washed together into mostly black. I tried aligning again, full cleaning procedure, and online tech support. The Tech had me try moving the photo back to a memory card. That actually helped for some reason and I get some detail in the dark vegetation, but now the green clothing is washed out.

I tried the sample photo from HP and it looks great. I tried another photo and it looks good – brighter than the original with reds enhanced from the original. I kind of liked the original authentic colors but I could get used to these enhanced ones.

I’m disappointed that this printer doesn’t reproduce faithfully the pictures on my computer. But it does seem to produce pictures taken with good lighting with a vivid quality that I hope I’ll grow to love. And I do like being able to print 5×7′s at home, and I also like to be able to purchase ink and paper separately which one cannot do with the PictureMate.

Does the Job
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this printer to use during a sixth grade graduation party so we could give the kids pictures of themselves with their friends. Overall, I was very happy with the printer. It’s lightweight, quick and easy to set up and produces crisp color images. But I am disappointed that it takes about 50 seconds to print one 4 X 6 print and not “up to 39 seconds” as the product description states. During the party, waiting for the prints was a little frustrating, since there was a long line of kids. At home, it’s no big deal and my kids enjoy printing their own photos. Good portable printer for the money ($100).

I ordered this product refurbished and am very happy with it… the pictures come out with wonderful quality, quick and the ink dries very fast so no worries about smearing! I also love that you can print in black and white… and choose wallet size, etc.

I bought the refurbished A616 for $39.95 and love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m real happy with the performance of this model, I have one of the first HP printers of this type and

must say they’ve improved over the years. Print speed is about 2 mins. and using the best HP

photo paper it makes near perfect prints. I did try the cheaper HP photo paper, the darker areas

have a hazed look, this is NOT the case using the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper. I bought a refurbished

one about 3 months ago and couldn’t tell it from new, HP offers the same one year warr. and includes

everything the new one comes with, even the ink! I’ve found for me most things that are refurbished

have perform perfectly, it was worth the chance this time.

It is so easy to use and the photos are high quality. I’ve have showed them to friends and they couldn’t believe that I printed them and it wasn’t done at a photo center. This is definitely a great purchase.

Handy photo printer
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought the printer as a present for my father for Christmas. It’s his second one. I’m not sure why his first printer stopped working, but he really liked this specific model because it is compact and easy to use. He often takes it to family gatherings so that we can develop a group picture or two on the spot. Although the speed is rather slow, the quality of the pictures is good. I had trouble tracking down the printer because HP keeps changing the model number.

Great Product
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great product. I bought it for my wife on her birthday, amazing quality!! The settings are so detailed, you can selcet your paper type and the printer will actually print differently for the paper type you are using. The selection of photo sizes is great. Overall amazing product! The only reason that I didn’t give it a 5….it won’t make me coffee in the morning.
