Outstanding

Very nice printer, feels solid and very light. I do not print a lot of photos, but I do travel frequently and this printer works great. Very easy to setup, Windows 7 installed all the drivers without using the cd that came with it. I use this in conjunction with a sony Vaio notebook, and got the $20 Zoom bluetooth adapter to print wirelessly and works flawlessly.
I highly recommend this printer for travel or home use, very powerful for a small design.
IP 100

It works well but I used the ip70, ip90 both worked well with Palm OS third party software. But not the ip100, so if you’re having to upgrade on Palm OS software it will not work. When I call Canon the said nothings changed other than it was a little heavier. When I told them that the third party companies said it was a bit map printer they said OOOOOH! So that makes me think they don’t know what’s going on with their printers. Now I’m stuck with a printer I can’t use. Ugh!
Excellent photo printer

I bought this ONLY for photo printing and I am VERY IMPRESSED with the quality of pictures. I connect my Kodak camera via a USB connection, and get GREAT QUALITY pictures. No computer needed.

This little Canon mobile printer is great!
Works like a champ for a small portable unit!
Stopped working in the flakiest of ways at 4.5 months

I owned 2 of the predecessor product BJC 85 I think they are called and after having a printer repair person tinker with them they both actually do work again. This one seems much more character deficient electronically in that when there is clearly plenty of ink it starts sending messages to your computer that damage will occur if you do not change the ink cartridge. The old ones simply showed rather than threatening when they were out and that was much more satisfying and beleivable. Unfortunately for me the old ones are at my office which is over 1.25 hour drive away and now this one has flaked. It says the black ink is out but I just put a brand new brand (have never tried other) ink cartridge in and in fact was quite in disbelief at how fast it seemed to go through the last black ink cartridge. Now with the new ink cartridge it is not saying that the black ink is out for a change on the computer but it looks like the black ink is out all over the page…except that the top line and the bottom line are printing with full and normal black ink!!! I think it’s too late to return to Amazon. So I’ll be spending time on the phone with Canon or back to the printer repair guys. Both of the old BJC 85 printers worked for many years without any problem…just started when they had more time in hotter environment and not used as continuously…then that was fixed by changing the cartridge the ink tank goes in so disappointed in Canon that the new one has flaked so soon.

I purchased this as a travel printer as I go out of town a lot and sometimes need to create documents while sitting out in the hall in the courthouse. This printer fits in my case with my laptop and produces sharp, crisp copies at a very quick printing rate. For me this thing has paid for itself already. I don’t know how I ever got along without it. If you need a small, truly portable and battery operated printer this is certainly the one to buy.

I am very satisfied with the ip100 printer. I replaced an i80 printer. I am not satisfied with the mobile feature that allows wireless printing. I purdhased the bluetooth adapter. I cannot get it to work. There were no installation instructions. I hope customer service can help install it. This part of the printer needs better direction and instruction for the purchaser. As stated above the printer is a very good purchase.
Great portable printer!

This replaced my old i80 that finally bit the dust. What a great replacement! A little bigger than the i80 (but not much), but with Bluetooth ability it let me dump the USB cord for connection to my laptop. I use this for business only, printing documents onsite during my work travels, so I haven’t tried it yet for photos (which I see is its main purpose in life). So far, so good!
Great stay-at-home printer too

Even though I have no plans to travel with a printer, I bought this Canon iP100 a couple of days ago because I like Canon camera products and I wanted something that takes up little space.
So far, I love this printer! The difference between photos printed on this and photos on the Epson R200 that I previously had are like night & day! I can’t believe I put up with lack of quality for so long. The Canon prints regular 8-1/2×11 text printouts nicely as well.
Maybe it’s just me, but for some reason, I couldn’t get the software CD to auto-start when I inserted it in the drive, so it took me some time to figure out how to jumpstart it. I couldn’t find any info online, I tried to call Canon but after jumping through their automated voice system hoops, they finally tell you they are closed on weekends (it was a Saturday); the QuickStart printed guide didn’t give any clues even though the quick start-up cheat-sheet said to look there if it didn’t automatically start loading. I finally just went to the CD drive & picked an icon to click on and that did the trick.
Also, there is no printed material or clear online material that I could find on what ink cartridges to order; so pay attention to the cartridges that come with the printer: black = PGI-35; multi-color = CLI-36. You only need two cartridges (my old Epson needed six, and of course I had just bought new ones the day before it died).
I’ve read that the Canon ink cartridges don’t last long, so I’m hoping that’s not true. But even so, it appears to be the case for pretty much any printer…they all seem to gouge on the ink cartridge$. However, having to order more of two cartridges looks like it will be better, pricewise, than having to order six!
There is no paper catcher to catch the paper as it finishes printing off. But the printer is so small, I had room on my little computer armoire shelf to turn it sideways so paper just lands on the shelf for larger print jobs.
I’m very glad I got this printer!
Perfect For What I Needed It For
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the iP100 for business use. I wanted something that was small and portable, yet solid and reliable, and so far it seems I’ve found just that with this printer. It is even smaller than I thought it would be, but seems to be very well built. I read other reviews talking about how there’s no case available for this printer, but it actually fits nicely in the front pouch of my Dell laptop case. This printer is just an extremely convenient thing to own – though I bought it for business use, I can definitely see myself making use of it in other ways because it’s just so darn nice to have around. It prints just as good if not better and faster than my Canon desktop printer. It does seem a little expensive maybe, but in my opinion it’s most definitely worth it. I’ve always liked Canon printers and this one is no exception. If you need a portable printer, I can’t imagine you won’t be happy with the iP100.
Compact size and Great Performance

The Pixma iP100 is my second Canon printer. The first was a huge S9000. The S9000 printed everything and well. However, I needed a smaller footprint unit, so my brother got the S9000.
Canon iP100 goes through a clicking start-up routine if it has been off. Just checking!, I guess. The output with two cartridges (S9000 has six) is clear, color proper, and consistent through multiple copies or serial pages. I liked the huge prints I could get out of the S9000 (probably no longer available, newer stuff now may be) but the iP100 completes 95% of my printing requirements. I take my flash card to my local photo shop for larger stuff now. At home, I use the iP100 for text printing, and sometimes contact prints.
The replacement cartridges are available locally, so when I get the alert that the color and/or black cartridge is getting low, I can get replacements before the iP100 has completely drained the cartridge. You do have plenty of time if you would rather or must order for mail delivery. I don’t take the cartridge out until I get the message that a replacement is needed before printing will proceed.
Even when I wait until the last minute, I’m able to replace the cartridge(s) and the iP100 will resume (even when printing from on-line resources) after the new unit(s) are installed.
Back to the issue of compact. This unit could fit onto, or even into, a typical plastic storage unit. I kept the box. When I moved (twice) it was easy to haul long distance. Otherwise, tuck the unit into a roll-around luggage piece.
I’ve also adopted Blue Tooth technology (why didn’t I have this in the 70′s). The iP100 gets the Blue Tooth print instructions from my 9″ Acer, and my ancient Inspiron 9300. I installed a blue tooth device inside the iP100. It’s there permanently for me although the Blue Tooth device can be mounted outside or omitted and the normal print cable could be attached.
Convenient, easy to move around, works great!
Canon iP100 Printer

I ordered this printer in August and the delivery was very prompt. I have been looking for a small printer that I could take with me when I travel. I finally found the size I required in the Canon iP100. I read some reviews before I purchased the printer – some good and some confusing. There were a few parts to be installed before it was ready for use. I found the instructions very simple and easy to follow and the installation was no problem. I have been very pleased overall with the printer. The printing speed is very quick and I can print photos as well as plain paper.
The best one yet!

I love the Canon brand I have never used anything else. I previously owned the i950 photo color printer. After many years of great use it finally gave out on me. Didn’t want to invest in repairs and was ready for an upgrade. I really love the iP100 a lot. Wonderful vivid color photo prints and the text is crisp and clear. One of the best things about this printer is the cost of the ink which is relatively cheap compared to other brands. This printer only requires 2 ink tanks verse my older printer that needed 5 at the cost of $14.00 a piece. The printer is very small and lightweight doesn’t need a lot of space. And all the features are really nice. And if you don’t have a printer cable don’t forget to purchase one because it’s not included. My old cable worked fine. The only thing that I have a complaint about is that the printer does not turn on automatically when you click your printer icon to your documents to print. But if you don’t mind reaching a little to turn it on then this is the printer for you!
Excellent buy.

I love this mobile printer. It works really great, prints quickly and is pretty quiet. I haven’t gone through the toner that came with it yet and have printed lots, so that is also a positive. This was very reasonably priced. I recommend this printer if you are on the road with your laptop and must have a printer with you. It is compact and light too! Very happy I bought it!
Capable Little Portable Printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This model is fairly expensive for an inkjet printer but there is an elegance about its design that appeals to me; especially when I need a versatile printer while traveling. This printer is about the same width and depth as a NETbook computer and about twice as thick. Print quality of text and color graphics on plain copy paper is excellent. This printer also does a superb and reasonably fast job of making photo-lab-quality color prints up to 8 ½ X 11 in size on glossy photo paper. Thus far I haven’t experienced any paper feed problems.
Installation of the printer driver on my Windows XP Pro SP3 notebook computer went without a hitch. I avoided installing the other software that Canon included on their CD because it duplicated other applications. Since I did not buy the bluetooth adapter I didn’t install their bluetooth configuration software either.
Weight of the printer by itself, without the optional battery pack and bluetooth adapter, is 4 pounds 6.5 ounces. With the AC power supply the total travel weight is 5 pounds 0.9 ounces. With plug adapters the power supply will work on either 120 or 240 volts. An optional 12-volt car adapter will also power this printer. A clam-shell type top, which serves as a paper support and guide when open, protects the innards of the printer when it is held closed by a magnet for traveling.
For several years, I’ve owned a PIXMA ip4000 color inkjet printer, which is considerably larger and was not designed for portable use. That printer also consistently produces excellent color images, so I was already familiar with Canon PIXMA printer quality before I bought this one. I might add that I’ve been using “compatible” cartridges purchased from Amazon for less than 1/2 the cost of the Canon brand and don’t see any difference in print quality or cartridge life.
Aside from NOT having separate tanks for each ink color and dual paper trays this printer offers all of the features of my larger PIXMA printer, and even better print quality, without the bulk and weight. Since I usually have access to electric power during my travels, I didn’t order the optional battery pack which adds bulk, $100 to the cost and nearly 2 pounds to the travel weight. However I can see how the availability of such an accessory would be valuable to those who need it.
Having this printer delivered to me the day after it was ordered using Amazon’s free super-saver shipping was an unexpected and delightful surprise. No sales tax or other fees were added and Amazon’s price was competitive. Amazon’s advertised, “Save Big on the Canon iP100 Mobile Photo Printer” price was reduced another $15 one day after my printer was shipped. Amazon would NOT give me price protection and refund the difference. Considering the higher-than-average cost of this printer, I did find it annoying that Canon does not include a USB printer cable in the package. After shopping for what other manufacturers charge for their bluetooth adapters Canon’s price seems excessively high. Aside from those two minor gripes, I am pleased with my purchase.
Great mobile printer

This is my third mobile printer. First was an early Apple, next an HP. The Canon is far and away the best of the three. It gives very fast, good quality print (I don’t use it for photographs). I bought it from a local store because I was in a hurry. This was a good thing, because the first one I bought was defective (holder for the ink cartridges wouldn’t click into place the way it should). Second one is flawless (good thing, because I’m now out of the country) and prints up a storm. Fastest inkjet printer I’ve ever had!
Best printer I’ve ever owned

Had always used Epson printers since that’s what I was told were good in art school. My previous printer was an Epson R260, and that had to be the worst printer produced by Epson! If you check out the reviews for that product, you’ll see all the numerous problems associated with it – unfortunately, I bought it before any reviews had been posted. I used it for only around a year and a half and then there was major malfunctioning, really frustrating when it starts giving you problems at the worst possible times (when you have to print out pages and pages worth of stuff for tomorrow).
Decided to finally try a Canon printer and boy I am so much happier. The Canon iP100 is a nice compact size and the print speed and quality is honestly much better than my old Epson. Although Epson printers aren’t that great, Epson photo paper on the other hand is excellent and I highly recommend using the Ultra Premium Photo Paper – Luster with the Canon iP100 on top quality photo setting. The color blue usually tends to come out really “off” for the previous Epson model printers I’ve used, but with this printer the photos of the ocean that were shot in Hawaii came out absolutely beautiful – just the way it looks like in real life! I would recommend this product to anyone looking to purchase a compact sized photo quality printer.

A great second printer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
A writer and publisher, I use the printer frequently when in the field gathering information and also when working at my weekend retreat. It is small, light, fast, and produces great quality print. I used it for our last book [ASIN:0976426366 Oswegatchie Green]], and it is getting a great deal of use for our forthcoming book, “From the Adirondack Crescent to the New American Cheese.” I recommend it highly for anyone in need of mobility and quality. It is pricey as printers go, but well worth the cost for serious users.
Great little printer!

I bought this printer for my husband who needs it for printing reports on the run. The prints are quick, crisp, and clear. The setup was easy and connecting it to our laptop was no problem. We’re using a cord to connect both pieces so I can’t comment on the wireless feature.
All in all a great machine for the price and it fits into such a small space, the laptop, printer and all the cables fit into one briefcase.
Great on the road printer!

I travel a lot, and use my computer and printer in my motel room, so really appreciate a light weight packable printer, and this fits the bill. The plus is it is a great photo printer too! Would recommend it.
Small printer, just the job

If your looking for a compact printer with reasonable quality and print speed, then look no further. Slightly bulkier than its predecessor, but for the price an excellent buy.
Terribly disappointed
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this printer a year ago and am bitterly disappointed with it. It prints the first copy of a document just fine, but if I need a second copy, or make changes to the document, the next time it prints the document, it comes out in gray scale, whether it’s text or photos. This only happens on my MACs (system 10.5). It doesn’t happen on the old PC (Windows XP), so I suspect there’s a problem in the software but Canon won’t do anything about it, either in the US or in Europe (where I bought it). I’ve always had Canon printers clear back to when they were making them under the Apple Logo. Never before have I had any kind of problem; in fact, my Canon 5200R shipped across the ocean to Europe and works just fine with my wireless system.
The Bluetooth and battery part of the Canon iP100 work just fine. I just wish the printer did. I frequently travel and need a portable printer. Until this issue gets resolved, I’m not spending any more money on one. Yuch!
