Simplicity and Ease of Use
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I like the software for the very reasons that some have given it a low rating. No, it does not handle every conceivible format of pictures and there is some editing that other software can do that this doesn’t. The reason I like the software is because it is easy to figure out how to do things without re-reading the manual or becoming a “digital video” expert. It does great editing for the 95% of us who don’t use it everyday and don’t need to do complicated stuff.

Another great feature is the way you can view all your pictures in one space by various options. I usually set it up to view by date taken. You can change the size of the thumbnail to as small are as large as you want to view as many as 30 or more pictures on a screen to as little as 4. I have purchased several software packages for picture storage and editing over the years trying to find the one package that did all I need without all the complexity. I found it in this product.

Unfortunatly Microsoft has chosen to discontinue this package. They say Vista features can now do everthing it does but I have not found that to the the case. So, I will hang on to my copy of Digital Imaging Suite for the foreseeable future.

Wonderful Product!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the best photo editing program I’ve ever used! No idea why MS discontinued it, because I love it. I had the free trial, which you can still get, but the upgrade is no longer available. Thus my purchase from Amazon! So glad I found it, I love it.

I received the product in a timely fashion. The product was very simple to install. Now I need to learn how to use it.

Product Line Discontinued by Microsoft
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
According to the Microsoft website, this product line has been discontinued. That does not mean that the 2006 version of this software is unavailable, just that there will not be new, upgraded editions coming out. Microsoft claims that features of this software are incorporated into the Vista operating system. I have been using this photo editing program within Vista and find, even as a novice photo-edutor, that it is very limited. You may want to explore more current photo editing options such as Photoshop Elements 7.

Good medium-level photo editor
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The product was easy to install. The tutorial and help information covers common tasks. It supports photo fixes (e.g., exposure, red eye, cropping), and has many special effects (most of which I don’t use). Digital Image is easier to use than Adobe PhotoShop; I found navigation to the features I use was more straight-forward, and the layering of text and captions on a picture simpler. However, it lacks some of the capabilities a high-end photo editor. For example, the adjustment of picture contrast and brightness (a feature I frequently use) lacks instantanous feedback. With Digital Image, I view my picture, push a slider button (guessing at the correct level), and then see the effect on the picture when the bar is at its new setting. I would prefer instantaneous viewing of the effect on the picture while I am sliding the button. All in all, I found Digital Image to be a good photo editor for the average user, and very good value for the price.

This is my second copy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought my first edition of this software at the suggestion of my daughter who is a technology specialist in a local school system. She had researched this extensively and thought it was the best. I use it every day. In fact I use this more then any other software on my computer. I have just retired from my profession and have been reviewing and restoring 50 years of my own negatives and pictures. In addition I have many hundreds of my parent’s negatives which go back to to the 1920′s when they were missionaries to Japan. It is heartwarming to see these return to life after all these years.

I recently upgraded my computer to a faster version with more storage. My daughter immediately advised me to get the newer edition of Microsoft Digital Image Suite Anniversary Edition so I can use it with Vista.

I have enjoyed this software. It is easy to use, fun to use and totally satisfying. I am watching my family’s legacy coming back to life.

Love it.

I switched from XP to Vista and missed my MicroSoft “Picture It”; this replaces “Picture It” and is even better.

not quite as good as “Picture It!”
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
“Digital Image Suite” is very good, and I’m gradually increasing my learning curve on it, but I could do more things much more easily with “Picture It!”

Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Anniversary Edition

Excellent program that has everything Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum Anniversary Edition 2002 had plus some. The only thing that I wish the Digital Image Suite had more of is the wonderful clip art that Platinum Anniversary Edition 2002 had. Now if you could make a disc of that clip art and incorporate it into the Digital Image Suite you would really have some package to sell.

Upgrade to Microsoft’s Picture It 2001
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m used to Microsoft’s Picture It 2001 and I agree with a review that I read before I purchased this product that it’s a pretty nice upgrade. There are alot more functions and things you can do with your pictures. If you like creating business cards, labels, collages, and other projects I recommend this. I love it!

Very Disappointed!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I expected more. If I could have rated it, O star, I would have.

I ordered it mostly for the collage portion. I have a 10 year old MGI photosuite program that I like better.

wonderful software for the beginner
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I can’t say how good it is for those who want to do super fancy work with it, but I can say that this is GREAT for the beginning photo hobbiest. I lvoe the auto correct features, and the different texture type view that are available are stunning! I do wish that it had (maybe it does and I can’t find it) the ability to pick an area of background, and duplicate it elsewhere. It does allow me to do that within about a 2 inch range, nice, but a bit limiting. All in all, this program is exceptionally easy to use and learn, the results are very very nice, and for the price I think it’s the best out there

Does some things very well
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have several photo editors, free and paid, simply because each one does something so quickly and easily that it’s worth having it available.

I do not use this program extensively, but if you can get it at a good price, it’s worth having.

1. This program makes it easy to select and edit a specific area of a photo. Perhaps you want to select a shadowed area so you can bring out just a bit more detail without affecting the rest of the photo. This program makes it easy. You are not limited to using “sliders” to adjust midtones or shadowed areas throughout the entire photo. The “autotrace” function for selecting an area works well, but can easily be fine-tuned if it doesn’t do a perfect job.

I’m aware that many other image editors have the same function. I simply find this easier to do in this program than in others.

2. I regularly use photos for gifts to family & friends, and like to personalize the photo with a title or appropriate quotation WITHIN THE IMAGE, just like an old-fashioned “wall motto.” With this program, you simply click, “Add Text” and a text box pops up. You can size it, place it wherever you wish in the photo, and use any font installed on your computer…and a color picker allows you to select a tone in the photo and use that color for the font color.

I do this quite a bit, so for me, this function alone makes this program worth the price.

Example: I recently visited friends at their vacation cabin, which they have named “The Loon.” Our friends’ Fall wildflowers were in full bloom, great stuff to photograph. I shot many closeups, used a photo utility to make a blended collage, opened the resulting image in Digital Image Suite, added a text box simply saying, “Wildflowers at The Loon, September 2009″ (choosing a text color from one of the flowers), clicked “Save,” and voila: instant memento of the trip, and a nice thank-you gift for my friends.

You should certainly educate yourself about this program’s capabilities before you buy it. Make sure that it has enough functions to make it worth the money FOR YOU. For me, it’s well worth the money.

And for heaven’s sake don’t buy it and then complain that it can’t be updated to a newer version.

This program was much like my previous program I had before my PC crashed 3 times. It’s a new PC! Anyhow, I love this program now because it has so much on it that you can do with a picture and you can put text on the picture also, which I really like. You would love this program!!

Love this program!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I ordered this program because my previous computer came with an older version of it already installed for free. I used it all the time. When I purchased a new computer and it didn’t have this program already on it, I was sorely disappointed and HAD to order it. I use it regularly to edit my photos and I love it! This particular version is even better than the old version I’d been using because it has so many features. I was very pleased when I received it! You can do just about anything to your photos… if you can figure out which tool to use in order to do it. It can be a little overwhelming because there are SO many options, but if you give yourself time to learn the program and familiarize yourself with the tools, it can be really useful. I highly recommend watching the tutorial it comes with at the start-up… very helpful.

Program Good–Seller BAD!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006The program itself is awesome!! You can do a lot of neat photographic tricks with it. However, the seller-Brownie Books is a different story! They descriped the product as new, but the box was damaged and no manual was included. I have sent them an email complaint, so I am waiting on their response to selling me damaged goods. I feel like I was taken for a sucker!!

Digital Image: Great for Dummies!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Microsoft Digital Image is the latest version of the previous product: Picture It, which used for years. This new version is so similar, that I felt right at home and love it. I teach desktop publishing to real estate agents, and advocate this product for editing photos, as anyone can do it. I have Adobe and other software, but this is far better and much faster.

I found this really easy to use, and really liked the way it improved the pictures. I also liked the way it lets you share your pictures with others through different means. Very worth the money. Highly recommend.

My favorite Photo Editor!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used many photo editing products over the years, and they keep getting better and easier to use. Until this purchase the main product that I used was the Adobe Elements 2.0 product. I was happy with this, and still use it at times, but wanted something better for Collage compositions. The Adobe product, and old version now, was limited with this. (Not good for a large number of photos, or for multiple with different sizes.) I am sure that I would have also been happy with the new Adobe version. I did not want to spend a lot on a new version, however, and the cost of this product was definately right. I have been very happy with how easy it is to use the many features that it has. It was very easy using the tools to remove a man playing with a dog from the background of a family photo that I needed. Would definately buy it again!!

Digital Image Suite 2006 Ann. Ed
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I gave it 4 stars because there’s always room for improvement. I find the product much improved over Digital Image Pro V7 that I used previously. The software seems much smarter. It does a better job, and doesn’t seem to hang up as it did in V7 in cleaning up after itself. For the price I’m not sure I could do much better, and I’m very happy with my purchase.

Exceeded our expectations
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We purchased this product to fill in behind the resident photo software in Vista. some of the features we had liked in the old Picture It were missing. After a little research, we decided that MDIS 2006 would give us back what we missed. It has done that and more. Of special interest is the capacity to correct errors. We have been using it to remove date stamps from scans of old photos.

No need to spend Hundreds of dollars on a Pro Photo editor
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Having used Adobe Photoshop CS2 I can say that with all of its great functionality and available plug-ins, for me, It’s not worth the extra $500.00 it costs above the price of Microsoft’s Digital Image Suite 2006, Anniversary Edition. Microsoft gives you a great Photo organizer, which is seamlessly integrated with the Image editor. I find the editing software to be easy to use, with most of the functonality of Photo shop and even a few tricks of its own. It has a “Smart Eraser” that easily removes unwanted elements from your images and fills in the area with the appropriate image data from the surrounding area. The program comes with a rasonable set of filters and many of the plug-ins for photo shop also work in the Microsoft editor. It also has some nice batch editing capabilities such as batch rename, resize and file format conversion. Overall this is a great image editor with many pro features for a far from pro price.
